Here is one suggested sequence for the Saxon Math Books
Kindergarten Saxon Math 1
1st Grade Saxon Math 2
2nd Grade Saxon Math 3
3rd Grade Saxon Math 54
4th Grade Saxon Math 65
5th Grade Saxon Math 76
6th Grade Algebra 1/2
7th Grade Algebra 1
8th Grade Algebra 2
9th Grade Advanced Math
10th Grade Calculus
11th Grade Statistics
12th Grade Physics
Most homeschoolers start with Saxon Math 1 in Kindergarten.
Since Saxon Math incorporates their Geometry in with their Algebra books, you need to finish Advanced Math before you have finished a complete Geometry course. You will want to finish Advanced Math by the end of 10th Grade so that when you take the PSAT at the beginning of your 11th grade year you will be able to do your best.
You can see that this is having you complete one book a year. It give you a buffer; you can be a year behind on it and still probably do well on the PSAT and ACT in 11th Grade if you follow it.
By keeping to this sequence you can plan on taking the A.P. Calculus test at the end of your Sophomore year and the A.P. Statistics test at the end of your Junior year. This is a great idea because you can then report those scores on your college applications which you will want to have submitted by the last day in November of your Senior Year.
The PSAT Test is a qualifying test for National Merit Scholars.
